In an interview at Palm Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Ps. Jan Paulsen said the global church "needs to find a way to sign off on it. If they don't, those (regional) conferences that want to ordain women will find themselves acting in a rebellious way against the global church. That is not healthy."
The Inland area is part of the Southeastern California Conference, which in 2000 became the first Adventist conference in the world to grant the same ministerial credential to men and women. The credential is valid only within the conference.
The Los Angeles-based Southern California Conference took a similar step in 2005.
The Southeastern California Conference, which is based in Riverside, comprises Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, San Diego and Imperial counties.
The Seventh-day Adventist church, founded in the United States by Ellen G. White in 1863, has never taken a position on the biblical grounds opposing the ordination of women, Paulsen said.
Some individuals, however, believe that scripture prohibits women from teaching men, he said.
Paulsen asked women who feel called to ministry to be patient as the global church seeks consensus. Paulsen has said in the past that he supports ordaining women.
"I know I'm asking a lot of women ... because they feel they have waited a long time already," he said.

Christian Greetings!!!
This is one of the controversial subjects where one can hardly make a decision as to which view to subscribe to. (for or against) This is mainly caused by the foggy understanding we have about the subject. It is for this reason that I think We need to look into the Theology of Ordination, come up with an SDA perspective, then look into the actual practice.
Until that is done, many would choose to be silent on the issue.
MY view:
"I think women should be dedicated/consecrated for service."
AS FOR LEADERSHIP ROLES?....??????
I THINK THEREFORE I AM!!!
The main focus of the Seventh day Adventists message is based from the Bible as the early pioneers were finding Doctrine from the Bible and also through the guardians of Sister Ellen G White, if then were objecting for the naming of the Church, saying the name should be Biblical, I want to say also for women ordination is not Biblical and this is not a heretic Movement (Church)….Doctrinal Movement based on the Bible( Bible Only)
women ordination originates from a cry for women empowerment. We are equal in Gods eyes but have different responsibilities or roles. Ordaining women is wrong and let us not entertain such things in our church, why change all of a sudden and be like others. Is it because we want to fit in? We all know our stand on this subject and this shouldnt be an aguement at all.
I came across this post while researching this topic, which apparently some still consider controversial. The issue of ordination in general might be contested, but the question of the call of both men and women in ministry (including, but not limited to the role of pastor) has been decisively answered by the example of Jesus Christ, the witness of Scripture and the Testimony of the Holy Spirit. Both in Scripture and throughout the history of the Christian church God has called both men and women to leadership roles in the church, including the role of pastor, and of course prophet! If any of you gentlemen still wish to enter into an argument with the Almighty over whether or not he calls women to be pastors, then I wish you the very best of luck. However, I will not be betting any money on your success, nor do I want to be standing particularly close to you on Judgement Day! I must say, however, that I never cease to be amazed that Adventists will reference "Sister Ellen G White" while taking a position on this issue that so clearly involves a total and fundamental rejection of her entire ministry and message!
plato: I agree that the question of ordination requires further clarification.
anonymous: I fail to grasp the logic of your argument!
ncebs: Your idea about men and women having different roles is very nice in theory. There is one small problem: no one seems to have informed God. If I were you I would be very careful about making declarations about the roles for which God can and cannot use people, both men and women, created in His image and called in on the basis of His divine Sovereignty, and not your cultural prejudice! If God once used a donkey to speak to a wayward prophet, if Jesus said that the very stones would cry out if human voices were silenced, then how could we possibly be at all surprised if God did in fact call a woman to be a pastor?!!
I AGREE!
Many people label and dismiss these issues as "femenist" or radical. Was not our Lord radical??? And if it is femenist that is bringing up this issue, then as least say: "thank God SOMEONE is trying to call for justice!" Don't dismiss something just because it comes from a voice you don't think worthy.
Humans make mistakes. Just because someone prays at the beginning of a meeting and requests the guidance of God, it now means the conclusion of that meeting is what God wanted. Humans have their agenda's, they have their predujices, their likes and dislikes... they are ALL brought before the discussion table. So just because we have been doing something for a very long time and discussed it, doesn't mean it is God's will! God is not a demon twisting arms and forcing people to do His will. We have a choice, and unfortunately so many choose to be racist and sexist, even though they pray "sincerely" to God.
Thanks for writing this.
We need to be very careful, remember out of this church there is goin to be a remnant
We also need to know that the devil is so curning, remember that he is the one who can blind a human being to the extend of worshiping wooden or clay curving made by human hands hence believing that he was created by that idol.
Breathren lets not lean upon reason for we will be lost forever. Gay rights are coming like a veld fire which side are u going to take?
Just be carefull
